What is life coaching, NLP and Vincenzia’s different certifications?

Life Coaching is an ongoing and rewarding partnership between client and coach. The coach provides clients with proven tools and skills to enable them to achieve their goals, realise their dreams and work through what they feel has been holding them back. The coach maintains a supportive, caring and challenging environment where the focus is totally on the client, and implements an adaptive approach that is tailored to his or her interests and concerns.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is used to help an individual become aware of, strengthen and successfully regulate their emotional state in order to stay focussed on what he/she wants out of life. It incorporates specific Neuro-Linguistic Programming strategies and techniques designed to produce specific outcomes. In other words, NLP is a system of tools designed to help you get from where are to where you want to be, by challenging and overcoming barriers such as procrastination, fear and doubt etc. while equipping you with the strategies necessary for taking on new difficulties as they arise.

Narrative therapy is a form of counselling that emphasises perspective by treating people and their problems as separate entities. This allows clients to get some distance from whatever is holding them back or bothering them and to see how these things might actually be helping or protecting them, rather than simply hurting them. With this new perspective, individuals are empowered to make changes in their thought patterns and behaviour, ultimately becoming able to “rewrite” their life story in a way that reflects who they are, what they are capable of, and what their purpose is. Narrative therapy can benefit individuals, couples, and families in equal measure, and is especially effective for those who have fallen into the trap of defining themselves by their problems; when their lives have become dominated by such feelings as “I am depressed,” or “I am anxious,” or “I am Asperger’s”, or even “I am old” clients can overcome these self-imposed limitations by learning to see their problem as something they have but not something that identifies who they are. This is the freedom that Narrative Therapy offers.

When an aspergers diagnosis is received there is often a multitude of different and at times conflicting emotions and thoughts. There might be relief followed by panic in terms of finding out all the relevant and important information. There could be confusion around sifting through what is in actual fact important and helpful and what is not. And then for some there is a shattered worldview.
In addition to all this, caregiving for an individual with Aspergers can be physically, mentally and emotionally exhausting. It may lead to family conflict, social isolation or withdrawal. Parents and siblings may start struggling with feelings of irritability, fatigue, problems with sleep, feelings of helplessness or hopelessness.

As a mother of a 17 year old son with Asperger’s syndrome Vincenzia Diedericks, founder of Metamotion Coaching has found that professionals play a key role in providing treatment and therapies for our loved one with Asperger’s Syndrome but often lack the true understanding of what it is like to live with and be the guardian day in and day out of that person. Therefore she decided in 2006 that not only will she make it one of her goals to learn everything she could about Aspergers syndrome but also to Study Three different Life Coaching disciplines in order to assist other families in the same boat.
Metamotion coaching gives parents, caregivers and siblings a space where they can unpack their current challenges, receive emotional support and empart with practical tools and strategies in order to take care of themselves and learn how to support their family member with Aspergers.
